You can choose to calculate your VO2 max by two different formulas: - heart rate - power (you need a bike power sensor) The DF displays on screen: - the current VO2 max - the VO2 max of the activity - the VO2 max smoothed on all the runs - the number of refreshing time levels - the heart rates (current - average - max) or the powers (current - average - max) - the Training Effect during the activity - the number of calories burnt - the energy expenditure in kcal/min You can choose a refresh time between: 5 and 20 minutes. The weight and the resting HR are automatically retrieved from your user profile. If not, these data are applied by default with constant values. The VO2 max calculated for each refresh time and energy expenditure are saved each second in the FIT file, and VO2 max for the session and smoothed VO2 max at the end of the session (if option is checked in the app settings). So, you will be able to visualize the corresponding VO2 graph in your Garmin Connect profile. The smoothed VO2 max is saved into the app settings for the next session, and will remain displayed for the first 20 minutes before being updated by the new one. Operation: - a 20 minutes first level during which the VO2 is calibrated for its reliability. The rectangle remains red during the first 15 mn then, switch to blue for the 5 last mn and becomes green when the VO2 is reliable. - the VO2 is updated regarding the selected refresh time, and the VO2 max of the session is displayed just above the main value. The two circles show you if your current VO2 is greater or lower this VO2 max.
