RAINAHEAD — KNOW WHEN THE RAIN IS COMING Ever wonder how much longer you can ride before getting wet? RainAhead is a Garmin Edge data field that uses your GPS location and weather forecasts to tell you when precipitation is expected to begin—or, if it's already raining, when it's expected to stop. No need to pull out your phone or interpret weather radar while riding. Just glance at your Garmin. HOW IT WORKS RainAhead retrieves precipitation forecasts from Open-Meteo using your Garmin's GPS location. It checks precipitation forecasts in 15-minute intervals over the next six hours and automatically updates approximately every five minutes. RainAhead works worldwide, although forecast accuracy and resolution vary by location. UNDERSTANDING THE DISPLAY Rain 18m 14:30 Rain is forecast to begin in approximately 18 minutes, at 2:30 PM. Ends 25m 15:10 Precipitation is occurring and is forecast to end in approximately 25 minutes, at 3:10 PM. No rain No precipitation is forecast during the next six hours. Rain over 6 hours Precipitation is forecast to continue beyond the six-hour forecast window. The device displays "Rain" followed by a greater-than symbol and "6hr". Connecting... RainAhead is waiting for GPS information or its first weather forecast. The countdown updates automatically as you ride. CUSTOMIZABLE RAIN SENSITIVITY Not every cyclist considers a few drops of rain worth worrying about. RainAhead lets you choose how much precipitation is required to trigger a warning. LOW More than 0.10 mm per 15 minutes. Best for riders who only want warnings about noticeable precipitation. NORMAL More than 0.05 mm per 15 minutes. Filters out very light precipitation. HIGH (DEFAULT) More than 0.01 mm per 15 minutes. Detects light rain and drizzle. MAXIMUM Detects virtually any forecast precipitation, including trace amounts. Higher sensitivity means RainAhead will warn you about smaller amounts of precipitation. Adjust the sensitivity through the data field's settings in Garmin Connect IQ. IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Requires a GPS location and a connection to your phone for weather updates. - Uses precipitation forecasts, not live rain radar. Actual weather conditions and timing may differ. - Precipitation forecasts can include rain, snow, and other forms of precipitation. - Designed for convenient weather awareness, not severe-weather warnings.
