Description
Tired of your pace display jumping around every time you hit a bump or slow for a corner? Median Pace shows your smoothed pace using a rolling median — far more stable than an average, and immune to brief spikes from GPS noise or momentary stops. Unlike a simple moving average, the median ignores outliers entirely. Sprint for two seconds or pause at a crossing — the displayed pace barely moves. Settings (configurable in Garmin Connect) • Window Type — time-based (last N seconds) or distance-based (last N meters) • Window Size — 5 to 600 seconds, or 5 to 600 meters • Pace Unit — min/mile or min/km The field label updates automatically to reflect your settings (e.g. "30s Pace" or "100m Pace"). Works great for trail running and mountain terrain where pace varies wildly — the median stays meaningful even on steep climbs.
