Add the field: on the watch, Running activity (or a copied 'Interval Run') - Data Screens - 1-field layout - Connect IQ - TS Interval Coach. 2. Create the workout in Garmin Connect: Workouts - Running - Create. Example: warm-up 10 min → [fast 400 m with a target range (pace / heart rate / power / cadence) → recovery 2 min] × 6 → cool-down. Fast steps need a target range. Save and sync to the watch. 3. Run: open the running activity - Training - Workouts - pick it - start. The field follows each step. - Fast steps: top gauge (target range = green band from 10 to 2 o'clock, slow and fast target values at its ends, e.g. 4:40 / 4:30), big current value (10-second average, no unit, green on target / orange-red slow / blue fast), a tip pill, two rows at the bottom: distance left | on-target % / heart rate | cadence, rep dots along the bottom edge - Recovery steps: time left, the next step, heart rate, last rep pace; a beep each of the last 3 seconds of a timed recovery 4. Alerts in fast steps: after the first seconds of the step (10 s, 45 s for heart rate targets), off target for 10 seconds → big message for 3 seconds + one vibration, then every 30 seconds; back on target → short vibration. No alerts in the first minute of the activity. 5. After the workout (stop the timer or finish the workout): result table — intervals on target, pace and on-target % per rep, rep pace spread ±, late-rep slowdown, slowest rep. The Garmin Connect fields below are saved too. Without a workout it only compares laps (press LAP to split: this lap's pace against the last lap). Target coaching needs a workout. ■ Garmin Connect fields - Intervals on target (%) — share of work-step time inside the target range - Rep pace spread ± (s/km) — (slowest rep − fastest rep) ÷ 2 - Late-rep slowdown (%) — speed drop of the second half of the reps against the first half - Off-target amount (chart) — s/km for pace targets (s/mi with mile units), bpm for heart rate, W for power, spm for cadence; 0 when on target - Lap on target (% per workout step; 0 for steps without a target) ■ Settings (Connect IQ phone app) Vibrate on coaching alerts, alerts on other data screens (off by default), language (auto / 8 languages) ■ Notes - Targets that cannot be turned into a range (speed or power zone numbers) show "No target: run by feel". - Wrist heart rate rises slowly, so heart rate target steps are not judged for the first 45 seconds.
