Description
Typo is a typography-focused Garmin watch face built around large, distinctive hour and minute digits. It combines time with configurable date, activity, health, weather, sun and device data without overcrowding the display. Typo is available for round AMOLED and Color MIP displays. Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E use a dedicated black-and-white layout called Typo Mono. TIME, DATE & LAYOUT Typo follows the watch’s 12- or 24-hour format and shows AM/PM in 12-hour mode. Seconds are not displayed. On color models, the right side contains a date block and three independently configurable data fields. A slim vertical field can also be shown on the left. Any field can be turned off. The date block offers 7 formats: • Day / weekday / month • Day / month / weekday • Day / weekday / calendar week • Day / month / year • Day / weekday / temperature • Current weather with high/low • Temperature with weather condition Calendar week follows ISO 8601. CONFIGURABLE DATA FIELDS Each field can show: Steps, Distance Today, Calories, Floors Climbed, Intensity Minutes (Week), Running Distance (Week), Cycling Distance (Week), Heart Rate, Body Battery, Stress, Respiration Rate, Recovery Time, VO₂ Max, Battery, Altitude, Barometric Pressure (Sea Level), Temperature, Feels Like Temperature, Chance of Precipitation, UV Index, Next Sunrise or Sunset (Automatic), Sunrise or Sunset. Supported solar models also offer Solar Intensity (0–100%). Units follow your watch settings: km/mi, m/ft and °C/°F. Barometric pressure can use Automatic, hPa, inHg or mmHg. If a value is unavailable, Typo shows —. Weather values require weather data synced through the phone. PROGRESS ARC A 10-segment progress arc can display: • Steps goal • Floors goal • Weekly intensity minutes goal • Battery • Body Battery The arc can also be disabled. STATUS ICONS Bluetooth, notifications, and alarm / Do Not Disturb status can be shown below the time. Each icon can be disabled individually. COLORS & ALWAYS-ON DISPLAY Color models include 15 accent colors: Red, Amber, Sky Blue, Mint, Purple, Rose, Ivory, Silver, White, Orange, Coral, Lime, Emerald, Cyan and Cobalt. On AMOLED watches, Typo offers two Always-On Display modes: • Time with additional information • Time only Color MIP displays keep the full watch face visible. LONG-PRESS SHORTCUTS On supported touchscreen watches with Connect IQ 4.2 or newer, long-pressing a data field can open the corresponding Garmin view. This works with many activity, health, battery, sun, altitude, pressure, weather and solar fields. The date block can open the calendar or weather view depending on the selected format. If unsupported, the watch face remains open. TYPO MONO FOR INSTINCT Typo Mono is designed for Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E. It uses a dedicated black-and-white layout with large time on the left, a one-line date above, one configurable field in the round subscreen and two more below. All three fields support the same data options as the color version and can be disabled individually. The subscreen can use: • White background with black text • Black background with white text Typo Mono also includes the progress arc, pressure unit options and status icons. It does not use accent colors, the left-side field or weather-based date formats. DATA & UPDATES Typo uses Garmin data available on the watch and checks at runtime which values each model supports. Sunrise and sunset use the last known location or available Garmin data as fallback. The watch face does not activate GPS. Most values refresh on the minute, when the watch wakes, when returning to the watch face, or after settings change. Weather data is requested no more than every five minutes.

Fewer wasted redraws: on watches with a memory-in-pixel (MIP) display, the face no longer draws an extra, identical frame when the watch goes to sleep.
