Description
Alpine Lake Monitor brings modeled lake temperatures, forecasts and scientific lake information to your watch. Free to download and use. No payment, subscription, trial period or unlock code is required. IMPORTANT: THE MAIN TEMPERATURE IS MODELED The temperature on the main screen and glance is a Simstrat model estimate at approximately 1 m depth. It is calculated from weather inputs such as air temperature, wind, sunlight (solar radiation), humidity and precipitation, depending on the lake and model configuration. It is not a live thermometer reading. Actual water temperature at your location or near the shore can differ from the model estimate. TEMPERATURE AND TRENDS View modeled temperature history and forecast. The glance shows the lake name and a wide graph, with the current-time marker in the centre and one temperature value. Yellow shows modeled history; blue shows forecast. The glance uses an equal time scale on either side of the current-time marker. Missing forecast data is not invented or extended. FIND YOUR LAKE Find the nearest modeled lake or choose from an alphabetical list. If a fresh position is unavailable, the app uses the last known position saved on the watch. Save favorites and select the lake displayed in your glance: nearest, selected or a fixed lake. MORE LAKE INFORMATION Browse lake properties, station-measured water temperature, water level, satellite turbidity, clarity, water colour and other available source metrics. Station measurements are separate from the main modeled temperature. Availability varies by lake and source. Satellite skin-temperature pages are not included. Sample times and explanatory metric details help identify what each value represents. LANGUAGES English, German, French and Italian. The default language follows your watch. Lake names, menus and metric explanations follow your selected language where the source supplies translations. CONTROLS UP and DOWN: browse metric pages. START on the temperature screen: lake selection and settings. START on other metric pages: full explanation. UP/DOWN in an explanation: scroll. START scrolls further; BACK returns. MENU or tap: lake selection and settings. DATA AND CONNECTIVITY An internet connection is needed to download new data. Cached readings remain available offline. Background refresh is requested hourly, subject to Garmin scheduling and connectivity; this does not mean that the scientific model is recalculated every hour. Alplakes model outputs are normally updated daily. Unavailable values are shown as dashes. Old glance readings are muted and prefixed with ~.
