This app shows a graph of your recent HRV, average HRV, and HRV co-efficient of variation. # Features * Graph of the past 14 days of HRV (ms), rolling 7 day average HRV (ms), and HRV CV (coefficient of variation) as a percentage (0-100%) NOTE: The horizontal scale is labelled with the day of the month. HRV CV (coefficient of variation) quantifies the fluctuation in daily HRV. It is calculated as the standard deviation (of daily HRV) divided by the average HRV and expressed as a percentage. While the average HRV reflects average vagal or parasympathetic activity, the HRV CV represents the amount of variation, such as the stress (decreases in HRV) and recovery (return to at or above baseline) response to training and lifestyle events. Athletes who are more fit tend to show less fluctuation in their daily HRV scores (i.e., a smaller HRV CV value). A higher HRV CV value generally suggests better recovery and a more resilient body, while lower scores may indicate the need for rest or adjustments to your training. # Interpretation Examples Case: Increased HRV CV, no change or small decrease in average HRV Indicates an increase in physiological stress. Typical during new training phases (novel training stimuli) or increases in training load. A possible early indication of fatigue. This also tends to occur in situations of detraining. Case: Decreased HRV CV, moderate to large decrease in average HRV Indicates a more severe level of physiological stress and generally the least favorable response in athletes when purposeful overreaching is not desired. It is best not to let this persist for over 1 week. Case: Decreased HRV CV, increase in average HRV Indicative of positive adaptation and possible increase in fitness. Would suggest that you are handling training very well. Typical with reduced training load or tapering. However, under situations of very high volumes of endurance training, this trend is likely indicative of parasympathetic hyperactivity and fatigue.
