It shows in real time the projected distance you will reach before hitting your maximum heart rate — based on your current heart rate trend over recent miles. Your heart rate trend, translated into miles. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ COBUS SmartRace continuously analyzes your heart rate variation and calculates the exact distance where you will reach your maximum heart rate — so you can adjust your pace at the right moment. - RedLine above race distance: you can push harder. - RedLine below race distance: slow down now. - RedLine equals race distance: best time possible. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ REAL EXAMPLE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Running a 21K race at km 10, HR 170 (max 180), increasing 1 bpm/km: - RedLine shows 22 km: you are on track. - RedLine shows 14 km: slow down now. - RedLine shows 30 km: you can push harder. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW TO READ REDLINE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WARMING UP (first miles): During the first miles while your heart rate is below 90% of your maximum, the app displays "Warming up". This phase allows your heart rate to stabilize before calculating a reliable projection. STABILIZATION PHASE: In the first miles after warmup, RedLine may project a shorter distance than your actual capacity. This is normal and expected — the projection becomes progressively more accurate as your heart rate stabilizes during the race. DYNAMIC UPDATES: RedLine updates continuously based on your real-time heart rate trend. If your heart rate stabilizes or decreases during the race, the projection adjusts accordingly. A momentary display of -- indicates the system is recalculating based on new data. ACCURACY: RedLine is most accurate when your heart rate is approaching your maximum. In earlier stages it serves as a directional guide. Always combine it with your own racing experience for best results. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ DATA FIELDS DISPLAYED ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ - REDLINE: projected distance to max HR (main field). - Heart rate trend per unit of distance (mi or km), used to calculate the REDLINE. - Current pace (min/km or min/mile). - Distance covered. - Elapsed time. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ BEFORE YOU START ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ For accurate RedLine projections, make sure your maximum heart rate is correctly configured. You can set it in two ways: 1. In your Garmin user profile: Settings - User Profile - Heart Rate - Max HR 2. In the app data field settings via the Garmin Connect mobile app If your maximum HR is not configured, the app will use a default estimated value which may affect the accuracy of the RedLine projection. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ IMPORTANT NOTE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ RedLine is a real-time projection based on your heart rate trend — not an exact prediction. Variations are normal and expected.
