Descrição
Energy Reserve is an advanced Garmin Connect IQ data field for cycling and running, combining Energy Reserve, Training Load (Banister TRIMP), Heart Rate Zones and Workout Intensity in a single screen. Through an intuitive screen, it offers two complementary indicators to help you monitor workout intensity and manage your energy more effectively during the activity. ## TWO INDICATORS, A COMPLETE OVERVIEW## ENERGY – ENERGY RESERVE BASED ON HEART RATE ZONES Estimates the remaining energy by analysing the time spent in the five heart rate zones, from Z1 to Z5. - Overall remaining energy indicator, expressed as a percentage. - Percentage and dedicated bar for each zone. - Different consumption rates depending on the heart rate zone: higher-intensity zones have a greater weight. - Ability to set the maximum time spent in each zone. It is also possible to choose how many zones must reach 0% for the overall energy level to be reset to zero. LOAD – TRIMP-BASED TRAINING LOAD A second indicator monitors the accumulated training load during the activity using the Banister TRIMP method. The LOAD bar starts at 100% and gradually decreases as TRIMP accumulates, reaching 0% when the set limit is reached. The calculation uses: - Current heart rate. - Maximum heart rate. - Resting heart rate. - Sex, to select the formula parameters. TRIMP is updated during the activity using elapsed time and heart rate. ## ALL DATA AT A GLANCE## The main screen simultaneously displays: - ENERGY: overall remaining energy. - Z1–Z5: remaining energy for each heart rate zone. - HR: current heart rate. - ZONE: current heart rate zone. - TRIMP: accumulated training load. - LOAD: remaining load as a percentage. ## COLOURS AND DISPLAY## The indicators use an intuitive colour scale: - Green: above 50%. - Yellow/orange: from 20% to 50%. - Red: below 20%. You can choose between a black and a white background. The interface is designed to adapt to different Garmin displays: - Garmin watches: full-screen display, optimised for round screens. - Garmin Edge cycling computers: full-screen or half-screen display, depending on the data page configuration. ## CUSTOMISABLE SETTINGS## Parameters can be modified directly through the Garmin Connect IQ app: - TRIMP limit: threshold at which LOAD reaches 0% (default: 175). - Max heart rate: maximum heart rate. - Resting heart rate: resting heart rate. - Sex: Garmin profile, male or female. - Background: black or white background. - Max time Z1–Z5: maximum time in minutes for each zone (initial values: 180, 180, 60, 30 and 15 minutes). - Energy reaches 0% when: number of zones that must reach 0% to reset the overall energy level to zero. ## REQUIREMENTS AND INSTALLATION## - A heart rate sensor is required, either wrist-based optical or a chest strap. - Heart rate zones are read from the Garmin profile. - Maximum and resting heart rate values are used for the TRIMP calculation. - To use the data field, start an activity, open the data screen settings, add a screen or a data field, and select Energy Reserve from the Connect IQ fields. NOTE: ENERGY and LOAD are estimation indicators designed to help manage effort during an activity. They do not represent direct physiological measurements and are not intended for medical purposes.
