Lanedeck is one swimming data field for the pool and open water that fills any slot on your data screen with the numbers you pick. In a full screen it is a dashboard of up to 11 values plus a speed graph coloured by heart-rate zone; in half a screen it shows your top four; in a quarter two; in the smallest slot one. Nothing is cut off on round screens: every row is fitted to the visible width. In the pool Lanedeck counts lengths from the watch's own length detection and works out the time and pace of every length, your interval (the lengths between two rests) and a rest clock. Press lap to start and end a rest, as usual; if you forget, a long pause is recognised as rest. In open water the pace per 100 is smoothed with a Kalman filter, so a wobbly GPS track does not make the number jump. Lanedeck picks pool or open water from your activity profile. WHAT IT DOES - Pace per 100 m or yd for the last length, the current interval, the previous interval and the whole swim (swim time only) - Rest clock, interval time, interval distance and interval number - SWOLF and strokes of the last length, average SWOLF, distance per stroke, stroke rate - Lengths and distance in metres or yards; pool length learned from the first length (yard pools recognised) or set yourself - Projected finish time for a goal distance and distance to go - Presets Pool steady / Pool intervals / Technique / Open water / Goal distance, or your own order in 12 slots - Heart rate with zone in the Garmin Connect colours, %HRmax or %HR reserve, time of day, battery, calories - Alerts (vibration, tone and pop-up) when your pace is slower than a limit, when you reach the goal distance, or when HR goes above a chosen zone - Automatic, dark, light and high-contrast colours; five languages - Open water: smoothed speed, HR zone and pace per 100 saved to the FIT file - Watches with little memory (fenix 6, Forerunner 55/245, vivoactive 3/4, Venu, Instinct 2 and similar) get a light version: pace, average pace, interval pace, rest clock, lengths, distance, timer, lap time, heart rate and clock WHAT IT NEEDS - A Pool Swim or Open Water activity; heart rate under water is often not available, the field then shows dashes - Garmin does not save data from Connect IQ fields in pool swims, so the FIT values only appear for open water - Settings in the Connect IQ app (preset, slots, swim type, pool length, goal distance, alerts) - How to add: start a swim, open Settings / Data Screens, pick a screen and a field, then choose Connect IQ / Lanedeck. Then press BACK until you see the activity screen and scroll to that page. Until you press START it shows dashes (--). Tip: a 1-field layout gives the full dashboard
