介绍
Amp puts the six sums an electrician does all day on the wrist, so the tape measure stays in one hand and the phone stays in the pocket. Voltage drop over a long run, the smallest conductor that keeps the drop inside the limit you set, ampacity once heat and bunching have eaten into it, Ohm's law with power, motor current from shaft power, and AWG next to square millimetres. Each task has its own screen with at most three values, and every value is a stepper, so there is no keypad to poke at with a gloved finger. Standards differ from one country to the next, so you pick yours once: IEC and NEN for Europe or NEC for the United States. That choice sets the tables, the default voltage, the trade sizes and the units, and everything else follows from it. Set the conductor, the insulation and the way the cable is installed, and Amp shows the answer as you turn the stepper, with the working underneath it: the base current, the correction factors, the drop that is left over. Amp is a calculation aid and it does not replace the standard or the wiring rules that apply where you work. WHAT IT DOES - Voltage drop in volts and per cent, with the voltage left at the load and the power lost in the run - The smallest trade size that keeps the drop inside your limit, with the exact section it needs - Ampacity from the size and the installation method, corrected for ambient temperature and for the number of loaded cores, with the matching fuse or breaker - Ohm's law and power: give any two of voltage, current, resistance and power and get the other two, with a power factor for alternating current - Motor current from shaft power, power factor and efficiency, plus the apparent power and the smallest cable that carries it - AWG and kcmil next to square millimetres, with conductor diameter and resistance per length - IEC and NEN or NEC, copper or aluminium, single or three phase, five languages, and a glance with the last answer WHAT IT NEEDS - Nothing but the watch: no phone, no account, no internet - Your own judgement and the standard that applies to the job
