Retro World · Map Watch Face A compact instrument-style face with a world map, bold retro time, and everyday watch data. • Original seven-segment digits and an analog sub-dial, with independent 12/24-hour time. • 21 settings: customize or hide nine data areas, choose map styles, and control seconds, the second hand, date and location marker. • 16 world-map skins selected from local weather, daylight, dawn and dusk. The global day/night shading moves gradually with time. • A small marker shows an approximate location from an existing fix, fresh system-weather location, or an optional manually entered location. The face does not start GPS. • Heart rate, steps, calories, elevation, daily distance, and the watch's estimated remaining battery days. • Weather-dependent icons, day/night variants for clear and partly cloudy conditions, plus sunrise and sunset times. • Classic monochrome on MIP displays. Warm ivory panels, a teal map and amber accents on AMOLED displays. • Supported MIP watches can continuously update digital seconds, the second hand and changed heart-rate values using partial updates; gesture-only mode is also available. Heart-rate sampling and gesture duration remain controlled by the watch. AMOLED always-on mode uses dim outline time, minute-based movement and a rotating pixel-rest mask. Data and compatibility Use current watch firmware and keep Garmin Connect synchronized. Available data varies by device. Missing values show “--”; the live app never substitutes demonstration data. Battery days use the system estimate and display “--D” when unavailable. Units are Celsius, kilometres and metres. The watch face retains its retro English abbreviations; store information is available in English and Simplified Chinese. The low-resolution world map and location marker are illustrative, not navigation tools. Weather textures reflect local conditions, not global weather observations. Privacy and power No developer server, advertising, analytics SDK, or custom weather requests. No continuous GPS or additional sensor subscription. Map and environment data are cached. AMOLED always-on mode does not update weather, the map or health metrics. Battery use varies with the watch, display settings and usage. Gesture-only mode remains available. AMOLED always-on display remains minute-based. • Adjusted the Instinct 3 Solar sub-dial alignment and separated AM/PM from the hour digits. • Added approximate sunrise/sunset calculation for older regional APIs and an optional manual location when a recent position is unavailable. No continuous GPS. • Heart rate uses values supplied by the watch; this does not force one-second sensor sampling. Gesture duration remains controlled by Garmin.
