Solar Engine is a customizable watch face that integrates a classic mechanical interface with a dynamic astronomical display. Designed for readability and power efficiency, it provides a layered layout where timekeeping and planetary orbits operate concurrently. You can try it here: https://apps.garmin.com/apps/97ec0226-8d9d-47be-9b82-6b9a4a2c61d8 Astronomical Features • Real Ephemeris (J2000 Epoch): Computes and displays the actual positions of the eight solar system planets based on standard astronomical algorithms. • Time Machine Simulation: Fast-forward the planetary orbits by adjusting the simulation speed (e.g., days, weeks, months, or years per second) to observe celestial movements. • Astronomical Events Leap: Jump to notable historical or future alignments, such as the 1977 Voyager 1 Grand Tour or the 1982 Nine Planets Alignment, to view the exact planetary positioning of that day. • Independent Timekeeping: Analog hands and digital clocks remain anchored to your current local time, even while the planetary simulation is accelerated or set to a different date. Customization & Layout • Data Ring Styles: Choose from multiple outer ring layouts, including standard data, minimal ticks and triangles, ticks only, or a hidden ring for a clean space view. • Analog Hands: Independent toggles for the Hour, Minute, and Second hands. Includes a hollow style option to maintain visibility of the orbits underneath. • Center Display: Option to show current weather conditions or a static Sun icon. • Backgrounds: Select a pure black background for optimal battery performance, or choose from various deep space images. • Color Themes: Adjustable colors for the time, date, data arcs, and physical ticks to suit your preference. • Custom Data Field: The bottom-right slot can be configured to show Solar Intensity, Elevation, Floors Climbed, or be left blank. Standard Metrics & Performance • Health & Activity: Displays Date, Time (12/24h), Heart Rate, Body Battery, Steps, Calories, Battery Percentage, Move Bar, and Bluetooth/Notification status. • AOD Mode: Features a minimal Always-On Display with built-in pixel shifting to mitigate screen burn-in on AMOLED devices.
