Put your parkrun barcode on your watch. It can also display 6 extra parkrun QR codes and 6 non parkrun barcodes. Your parkrun id and other details are entered using the Garmin IQ app on your phone. If you have problems installing, entering or saving your details, for example it stays queued for a long time, you see a spinning graphic, or the save option is greyed out see the troubleshooting section at the bottom of this description. The QR code is available via a tap, swipe or enter/start/stop button (usually top right). This scans better than the QR code so should be used in preference to the barcode. Note that on some Garmin Instincts, the corner of the QR code is covered by the small circular window. This is NOT needed for the code to scan. You can store up to 6 extra parkrun id QR codes for friends and family. These are accessed from a menu by using a long press of the menu button (the up button on most watches), by a tap/hold on touch screen watches, or by using the enter button from the main QR code screen. Unfortunately this is not available on old watches. You can also store up to 6 extra non parkrun barcodes containing letters, numbers and common symbols for loyalty cards, membership cards or other barcodes not associated with parkrun. This only displays barcodes in the code 128 format, and not other formats or QR codes. On lower resolution devices, long barcodes with many letters may not fit on the screen. Test first! Note also that depending on the length of the id, and the watch you have, the barcode may be small and hard to scan. I have been using this for supermarket loyalty cards and find that the handheld scanners scan well, but some of the larger self service tills struggle, they do normally scan with some persistence. This is an added extra, please do not complain if you cannot get a barcode to scan. Note also that you have to enter the characters manually in the settings (below the extra parkrun ids). It is your responsibility to enter this correctly! These barcodes are accessed from the same menu as the extra parkrun QR codes just below them. There is a watch face version if you wish to have this displayed all the time in case you do not want to mess with the app when you scan, or if you have an Forerunner 45 which does not support apps. The watch face version does not display QR codes though, so the app is better. There is also a parkrun results app available on some watches. This also displays your barcode or QR code, but cannot store more than one. See "More From This Developer" below. TROUBLESHOOTING If you are having trouble entering your parkrun id and other details you may like to watch the following video which runs through the process: https://youtube.com/shorts/lm-ZF_ttiZY If you are having trouble installing the app, or saving your details/settings then firstly, make sure you have the latest version of the Garmin IQ app on your phone. If this does not help then try re-starting both your watch and your phone and then make sure that the Garmin Connect app is running on your phone, before you try using the Garmin IQ app again. This resolves most issues people have and should allow you to install, allow settings to save, uninstall etc. Unfortunately, the Garmin software is temperamental here and there is nothing I can do to improve this experience. As a last resort, you can connect your watch to a PC and use Garmin Express to enter your details via the "IQ Apps" button.
