NO External Device or Companion App Required. Primarily tested for running and cycling. ********************************************* This data field is temporarily free as we have a pipeline of features already in the works. The main requirements for this data field to work is a heart rate monitor, and access to weather information from the Garmin built in weather checker. (This is not the device temperature sensor as it is inaccurate due to body heat etc.) Any feedback is greatly appreciated while we are on this journey to create the best way to track your sweat/sodium loss. ************************************************************ This data field currently uses 3 metrics to estimate your fluid and sodium loss in real-time. - Current Heart Rate - Temperature (Based on current location and its closest weather station - Humidity (Based on current location and it's closest weather station To be able to get the most of this data field, input your personal baseline sweat rate and sodium concentration via app settings. The personal baseline sweat rate should consider your sweat rate at 120bpm at 20 degrees Celsius. We will provide a bit more flexibility in this area in the near future. Precision, Fuel & Hydration have a great article to help estimate this for you. https://www.precisionhydration.com/performance-advice/hydration/how-to-measure-your-sweat-rate/ If you prefer not to do anything and just get on with it, then we set the default baseline to 800ml/hr at a temperature of 20 degrees celcius and salt concentration of 800mg per litre of sweat. The sweat rate is also live information as that changes as the data field calculates the sweat loss from these factors. You'll be able to see the change in sweat rate as you work harder or recover. We also included the 2 metrics of sodium loss and sweat loss into the fit file after you save your activity on Garmin.
