BACKBY helps you manage your time outdoors by telling you when it’s time to head back. Set a target return time, total outing time, or distance goal, and BACKBY continuously estimates whether you’re still on track to get back when planned. Clear colour-coded guidance keeps things simple: KEEP GOING – you have time in hand TURN SOON – start thinking about heading back TURN AROUND – head back now RETURNING – you’re on the way back BACK AT START – you’ve made it back BACKBY updates your predicted Arrive Back time using your actual activity progress rather than relying on a fixed halfway point. NEW IN v1.1.0 – COURSE & ELEVATION AWARE When following a loaded Garmin course that returns to your starting point, BACKBY can use the remaining course distance to improve its return calculation. This is especially useful for: • circular and loop routes • routes where continuing forward is shorter than retracing your steps • routes with significant climbing or descending BACKBY can also apply elevation-aware return estimates, helping account for the fact that an uphill return may take longer than a downhill one. If suitable course or elevation data is unavailable, BACKBY automatically falls back to its normal return calculation. THREE GOAL MODES Back By Time Choose the time you need to be back. Out For Time Choose how long you want the whole outing to last. Out For Distance Choose your target total distance. BACKBY recalculates throughout your activity as your pace and progress change.
