Description
Coil draws a grid over the ground you are searching and fills it in as you walk. Every second the GPS gives a position, Coil turns it into metres, works out which cells of the grid you swept and how much of each one your coil actually passed over. One straight pass through a cell counts as half, a second overlapping pass makes it full — the same way you would work a field by eye, but written down. Walk the edge of the plot once at the start and Coil rasterises that outline into the grid, so the big number on the live screen is a real coverage percentage instead of a vague feeling. Skip the edge and you still get square metres, a bounding box and the map. Step back onto ground you already finished and the watch gives you two short buzzes. Lane guidance keeps your passes parallel and tells you how far you have drifted, and every find you log goes on the map with a distance and a direction to walk back to it. WHAT IT DOES - A coverage grid of 2 to 5 metre cells, filled in from the GPS at one hertz - Two levels per cell: half covered after one pass, full after an overlapping second - Optional perimeter walk, rasterised with the even-odd rule, giving a true coverage percentage - A buzz when you walk back onto ground that is already fully covered, with a ten second cooldown - Lane guidance: aim a direction, confirm it, then follow the cross-track bar at sweep width times 0.9 - Finds in five categories with position, finds per hour, finds per 100 m², and a bearing back to any of them - A map screen with the grid, the outline, your finds and your heading, north up or course up, five zoom levels - Records the outing as a walk with the coverage as a data field and a lap on every find - A running session survives closing the app, and a glance with the last outing WHAT IT NEEDS - GPS, and open sky: under trees the fix wanders and so does the grid - Nothing else — no phone, no account, no internet
