Description

Flexirunner is a flexible all-in-one data field, for use in a single field layout. It is designed for running, with a native look and feel. In addition to the usual metrics supplied by the watch, Flexirunner also records a measure of running economy during your run. _____________________________________ Features: • Three pace fields: the centre field shows current pace, the lower two are configurable (e.g. average pace, lap pace, etc.) • Configurable time and distance fields (e.g. timer, lap time; total distance, lap distance, etc.) • Live moving (running) quantities, i.e. moving pace, moving distance, etc. These values filter out time and distance spent stopped or walking • Running economy • Energy expenditure • Colour indicators for the current heart rate zone, cadence, and pace • Flexible time display: in mins:secs up to one hour, then hours:mins after that, with the seconds in a smaller font (not on vivoactive HR) • Lap counter • Large, easy to read font for all fields • Adopts system settings for pace & distance units (metric or statute) _____________________________________ Moving (running) metrics: Quantities such as moving pace, moving time, etc. are filtered for time and distance spent stopped or walking (anything below a speed which roughly represents slow running). For best results, leave the timer running (and disable Auto Pause) when using these features. _____________________________________ Running economy: Relative running economy is a measure of how much energy it takes to cover a certain distance. It is also relative to your weight, and is displayed in units of calories (not kcal!) per kg per km. The economy metric is recorded in the FIT file (even if you don't display the field), and displayed on Garmin Connect after you upload your run. _____________________________________ Current pace colour indicator: The pace colour indicator shows deviation of the current pace from a chosen metric (e.g. overall average pace, lap pace, etc.): » Red: more than 5% slower than target metric » Green: within 5% of the target » Blue: more than 5% faster _____________________________________ Energy expenditure: This is a measure of the rate at which you burn calories (in kcal/hour). Flexirunner can display this during your run. See also: https://www.firstbeat.com/en/consumer-products/features/#4 _____________________________________ How to use: Set your data screen to single field layout, e.g.: Run button › Activity Settings › Data Screens › Screen 1 or 2 › Layout › 1 Field Choose Flexirunner as the data field: Activity Settings › Data Screens › Screen 1 or 2 › Field 1 › Connect IQ › Flexirunner To configure Flexirunner: see https://apps.garmin.com/settingsHelp Remember to set your heart rate zones and weight in your Garmin Connect profile for best results. Abbreviations used in the labels: • R. or Run = Running. For moving quantities, e.g. running pace. • L-1 = Last lap. For previous lap quantities, e.g. last lap pace. _____________________________________ Support: See the thread on the Garmin forums: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?362017-Data-field-Flexirunner&p=906533 _____________________________________ Donations: If you use & like this data field and you're feeling generous, donations are gratefully accepted here (give what you feel!): https://www.paypal.me/imgrant Acknowledgements: The Flexirunner icon incorporates elements by Freepik (http://www.freepik.com) from www.flaticon.com, which are licensed as CC BY 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/).

What's New

Version 6.1: • New force backlight to stay on feature, just like Timex watches! Push the start/stop button twice within 1 second to toggle setting the backlight permanently on, or adhering to whatever timeout is configured in the watch settings. _____________________________________ Version 6.0: • Running economy formula changed from being heartbeat-based to being derived from calorific expenditure. Units: cal/kg/km. If you want the old formula based on the Fellrnr example, see my other data field, Running Economy. • Energy expenditure is no longer recorded into the FIT file (but can still be displayed). If you want to record this, see my other data field, Energy Expenditure. • Option to display economy instead of cadence removed. • Minor adjustment to the pace threshold for moving (running) metrics. _____________________________________ Version 5.2: • Added options to show calories in the lower fields. _____________________________________ Version 5.2: • Added options to show economy and energy expenditure in the lower fields. • Added compatibility with D2 Bravo devices. • Bug fixes (empty fields, crash without HR) & improvements. _____________________________________ Version 5.1: • Added support for white text on black background for watches that support it (Fenixes, vivoactives). • Updated to SDK 2.1.5, extended compatibility to related products such as ForeAthlete 'J' versions. _____________________________________ Version 5.0: • Flexirunner is now available for many more watches: Fenix 3, Fenix Chronos, Forerunner 920XT, vivoactive & HR. _____________________________________ Version 4.1: • Changes to the colour of graphs for running economy and energy expenditure. • Elapsed time display option for timer field has been removed. • Fixed a bug in the running economy calculation, and added some additional smoothing. _____________________________________ Version 4.0: • Energy expenditure – see https://www.firstbeat.com/en/consumer-products/features/#4. Although not displayed on the watch, this is recorded into the FIT file and displayed on Garmin Connect after uploading. • Option to choose between showing the current pace as Rounded Pace (i.e. rounded to the nearest 5-second interval) or exact (1-second precision). • The option to show heart rate as HR Zone has been removed. • The colour indicator for current pace has been simplified from 5 to 3 levels. • Minor tweaks and memory optimizations. _____________________________________ Version 3.0: • Running economy (see http://fellrnr.com/wiki/Running_Economy) – you can choose to display the recent (last 30 seconds average) running economy instead of cadence. • FIT contribution capability – the running economy metric is recorded into the FIT file (even the economy field isn't displayed), and is displayed on Garmin Connect after uploading your run. • The dual bpm and HR zone display option has been removed. • The coloured indicator bars on the outer fields are sadly no longer curved. • Minor bug fixes.
