Description
EM-Snow Field puts your resort's conditions inside Garmin's own ski activity. Add it to any data screen and see the state of the mountain while you ride, then find the day's snow conditions saved with your activity in Garmin Connect. It is free, with no account and no login. CHOOSE HOW IT FINDS YOUR RESORT In Garmin Connect, open the field's settings and pick one: watch GPS, Garmin weather (your phone's location, used until the GPS fix), or a resort code. Nothing is sent until you choose. FITS ANY FIELD SIZE Full screen: the clock, snow surface and depth at the base and summit, 72 hour snowfall, wind, base and summit temperatures, freezing level, the avalanche level and the best piste to ski next Half screen: three big numbers (72 hour snow, summit temperature and wind) with a status line Small fields: one big value. Pick it in settings, or choose Rotate to step through the useful ones AT A GLANCE The background turns blue, then purple, as the snow builds over 72 hours, so you can spot a powder day without reading a number Avalanche danger (1 to 5) on its warning colour Thaw, strong wind and a high powder chance are flagged in colour Units follow your watch settings PRO VALUES (free while we launch) Last lift: a countdown to the last lift, from the resort's closing time where we have it, or your own time set in the field's settings. Amber at 30 minutes, red at 10 0 degree line: how far above or below the freezing level you are, from your watch's altitude Snow IQ: today's skiing in one number from 0 to 100 Best piste now: where to ride, and when Powder chance and freezing level SAVED TO GARMIN CONNECT The day's conditions are kept in your activity summary: snow surface, summit and base depth, new snow in the last 24 hours, avalanche level, Snow IQ and the resort Time of day as its own graph next to Garmin's elapsed time, in your watch's 12 or 24 hour format. You can turn it off in settings If your phone drops out late in the day, the summary keeps the last good reading WORKS WITHOUT SIGNAL Conditions come through your phone in the background and are kept on the watch. If the phone drops out the field keeps the last data, greyed out and marked with its age, so old numbers never pass for live ones. It says clearly when it is waiting for GPS, has no phone, or has no data yet. OLDER AND SMALLER WATCHES Watches with less memory for data fields (for example fenix 5 and 6, Forerunner 245, 645 and 935, vivoactive 3 and 4, Venu Sq, Instinct 2, Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E) get a lite version: summit depth, new snow in the last 24 hours, Snow IQ and the avalanche level, on any field size. Part of the EM-Snow family: EM Snow (the watch app that records your ski day), EM-Snow Widget (a glance and snow report) and EM-Snow Field (conditions inside Garmin's ski activity). Resort reports, forecasts and replays of your day on the web at snow.extreme-media.co.uk Languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch. Data: resort reports and forecasts from EM-Snow (snow.extreme-media.co.uk); avalanche levels from the regional avalanche services. Always check the official avalanche bulletin and resort information before heading off piste. EM-Snow Field is a guide, not a safety device.
