Description

One More Yard puts a backyard ultra on one Garmin data screen: the hourly clock, yard count, pace, distance left and estimated rest. HOW TO USE IT On your watch, open Run or Trail Run, choose Settings, then Data Screens. Choose a layout with one field, open Connect IQ Fields and select One More Yard. Menu names vary by watch. 1. Press START to begin recording. This does not start a yard. 2. Press LAP as you cross the start line. 3. Press LAP again at the actual finish. GPS never finishes a yard for you. 4. Keep recording during rest. Press LAP at the next start and repeat. Turn Auto Lap and Auto Pause off, enable Lap Key, and do not use a structured workout. On older watches, automatic or workout laps can look like presses of the LAP button. Enable Connect IQ Alerts for this data field if available. THE HOURLY CLOCK Each loop is called a yard. Choose the minute when each yard starts; :00 means on the hour. Each yard must finish before the next bell. A finish at the bell or later is marked late. Tracking continues after a late start or finish. Only the organiser decides whether you are out of the race. Your first accepted LAP joins the yard for the most recent bell. You can start recording after the bell or after the start window closes and still join that yard, provided enough time remains before the next bell. For a 6.706 km yard with starts on the hour: - Record at 06:03, then press LAP at 06:03:05: you join the 06:00 yard and must finish before 07:00. - Record at 05:55, then press LAP at 06:00:03: finish before 07:00. - First LAP at 05:59: the press is ignored and WAIT FOR BELL counts down to 06:00. Press LAP again at the 06:00 bell to start that yard. Nothing starts automatically. A distance-based start guard prevents new yards from starting too close to the next bell. For a 6.706 km yard, more than 15 minutes 30 seconds must remain: with starts on the hour, :44:29 is allowed, but :44:30 through :59:59 is blocked. The limit follows your configured yard distance, not your live pace. It never blocks finishing a yard you have already started. After completing a yard, LAP during rest is ignored until the next bell. START WINDOW With Start window Off (0 seconds), starts are never marked late. The start guard still applies. With a 120-second window, LAP from 06:00 to exactly 06:02:00 is on time. LAP after 06:02:00 still starts the 06:00 yard, with a late warning, provided the start guard allows it. This applies even if you only just began recording. You must still finish before 07:00. The window never gives you extra time to finish. WHAT THE SCREEN SHOWS - Before the first yard, PRESS LAP TO START is shown clearly whenever a start is allowed, with every start-window setting, even if you begin recording after the window closes. The next bell time is also shown. Your first accepted LAP joins the yard for the most recent bell. - WAIT FOR BELL means too little time remains to start a yard. The screen counts down to the next bell and shows LAP AT BELL. Press LAP again at the bell; an ignored press is never queued. - During rest with the window Off, START NOW / 00:00 means the bell has passed and a start is still allowed. Press LAP to start and finish before the following bell. - Running shows pace in min/km or min/mile, distance LEFT, yard progress and the next-bell countdown. Estimated finish and rest times appear when pace and GPS distance are reliable. LATE under REST EST or R means you are predicted to finish after the next bell. Zero distance LEFT does not complete the yard. - Resting shows elapsed rest and the previous yard time. Walking during rest is left out of the next yard's distance. - Optional alternating directions show ACW for anticlockwise or CW for clockwise before each yard. An optional target tracks progress but never stops the race. Sound, vibration and popups vary by watch; older models may show warnings only on the field. - YARD TOO LONG / FOR 1 HOUR means the configured distance is too long for an hour

What's New

Version 2.2.0 - Distance-based start guard - New yard starts require enough time before the next bell for the configured distance. For 6,706 m, more than 15:30 must remain; :44:30 through :59:59 is blocked. - WAIT FOR BELL shows the countdown and bell time. An ignored LAP is not queued: press LAP again at the bell. - Finishing an active yard remains available. Start window Off still disables late-start flags only; it does not disable the guard. - YARD TOO LONG guides you to save or discard the recording, then correct an impossible hourly distance.
